First records of Cobitis elongatoides and Sabanejewia balcanica (Cobitidae) for Germany

Abstract.

Two freshwater fish species were recorded for the first time in German waters. Cobitis elongatoides was found in the upper River Spree at Uhyst, Saxony and Sabanejewia baltica in the lower River Odra at Stützkow. Both species are considered as native to Germany. The Cobitis was identified by karyotype analyses.
